What is a Flareeboard?

A Flareeboard is a group board where many people post messages and pictures for one person, a department or the whole company, and the whole thing is delivered in a single moment. It is the digital version of passing a card around the office, built for teams that are not all in one office.

How many people can add to one board?

There is no limit. Any number of people can contribute, and each person can post as many messages as they like. If the board rewards contributors, the reward is still handed out once per person regardless of how many messages they wrote.

Can I add a video to a board?

No. A message carries text up to 500 characters and one picture in JPG, PNG, GIF or WEBP format up to 10 MB. There is no video or audio support.

Can the person see the board before it is delivered?

Not on a board made for one person. It is hidden from them entirely until you deliver it, and they are left out of the notification when the board is published. Department and company boards are visible to everyone from the start, because on those boards everybody is a recipient.

What happens after a board is delivered?

The board is frozen. Nobody can add, edit or remove a message after delivery, including the person who created it. Everything already written stays on the board and stays readable.

Can I share a board with someone outside the company?

Yes, once it has been delivered. Sharing creates a public read-only link showing the title, the cover, the delivery date and every message, with author names shortened to a first name and an initial. No email addresses or company data appear on that page, and it is not indexed by search engines. You can revoke the link at any time.

Boards for the whole company are included in the Free Forever plan. Boards for a department or for one person are part of Advance. Every board type is available during the 90-day trial, which needs no card.

Can I schedule a board to deliver itself?

No. Delivery is a manual step, so you choose the moment rather than trusting a timer to pick it for you.

The Group Card Problem Nobody Owns

Someone is leaving on Friday. A paper card cannot reach three offices and two people on parental leave. A shared document looks like a shared document. So somebody ends up chasing thirty people in direct messages and pasting the results into slides at eleven at night.

The job is simple and the tooling is not. Most teams solve it by buying a standalone group card product for one occasion, then buying it again the next time. The board arrives, it is lovely, and then it is gone, because nothing connects it to how the company recognises people the rest of the year.

How a Flareeboard Works

Four steps, and only the first one needs a decision.

Create the board. Pick who it is for: one person, a department, or the whole company. Add a title, an occasion and a cover card from your Event Cards. The board starts as a draft only you can see, so you can write the first message before anyone else arrives.

Publish it. Everyone in scope is told the board is open, through Slack if your company uses Slack and by email otherwise. On a board for one person the recipient is left out, so it stays a surprise.

The team writes. Anyone who can send a Flaree can post, up to 500 characters with a picture. No cap on how many people contribute or how often, and people can edit their own message while the board is open.

Deliver it. The board closes and reaches the recipient in one moment. Nobody can change anything after that, which is the point: a delivered board is a record, not a document that keeps moving.

You choose this when you create the board, and it cannot be changed afterwards, because changing it would move the board under messages people have already written.

A board for one person

A farewell, a birthday, a work anniversary, a welcome. Hidden from the person it celebrates until you deliver it. Part of the Advance plan.

A board for a department

A project shipped, a quarter closed, a team celebration. Everyone can see it and add to it from the moment it is published, and the people in that department are the ones notified. Part of the Advance plan.

A board for the whole company

A company milestone, a holiday, employee appreciation. Open to everyone, seen by everyone. Included in Free Forever.

Rewarding the People Who Show Up

This is the part a standalone group card tool cannot do.

Turn rewards on and everyone who writes on the board receives the cover card plus between 1 and 100 points when it is delivered. Once per person, however many messages they posted, and it does not come out of anyone's daily sending budget.

The consequence matters more than the mechanic. Organising a farewell board is usually unpaid work that falls on whoever cares most. Rewarding contributors turns the board from an errand into part of the recognition record, which is where it belonged in the first place.

The cover card is a copy

Covers come from your Event Cards and are copied onto the board when you create it. Editing the original card later will not change what the board shows, and deleting it will not break the board.

Delivery, the Reveal and Keeping the Board

A delivered board for one person arrives behind a gift icon in their top bar and opens with a full-screen reveal: the cover, the title, and a button. It happens once, so the moment is a moment rather than a notification they skim on the way to something else. They also get an email, and a push notification if they use the mobile app.

Department and company boards email everyone in scope. They deliberately do not send a push, because buzzing three hundred phones at once is not a celebration.

A delivered board can be given a public read-only link, so a leaver keeps their board after their account is gone. Author names on that page are shortened to a first name and an initial. No email addresses, no company data, and the page is not indexed by search engines. Turning sharing off kills the link for everyone, and sharing again later creates a new one.
