Badges
How badges work in Flaree
Badges are automatic recognition for the people who keep recognition going. You never apply for one and an admin never grants one by hand. Flaree looks at the Flarees you send and awards badges on a fixed schedule.
The four badges at a glance
Badge |
Period |
What you need to do |
When it is awarded |
|---|---|---|---|
π Elite Motivator |
Monthly |
Send 20+ Flarees during the month, spread over at least 12 different weekdays |
First working day of the next month, 09:00 company time |
π€ Team Player |
Monthly |
Send 15+ Flarees during the month, spread over at least 8 different weekdays |
First working day of the next month, 09:00 company time |
π Week Leader |
Weekly |
Send 5+ Flarees during the week, spread over at least 3 different weekdays |
Monday 09:00 company time, for the week that just ended |
β Flaree Master |
Milestone |
Send your first Flaree, then one badge for every 5 Flarees sent |
Instantly, at the moment of the transfer |
Badges are earned by sending Flarees, not by receiving them. Receiving Flarees gives you points and moves you up the leaderboard, which is a separate thing.
Two rules every badge shares
1. Total volume and spread both matter
Every badge except Flaree Master has two conditions and you have to meet both:
Total β how many Flarees you sent in the period.
Active days β on how many separate days you sent at least one.
Sending 20 Flarees in a single afternoon does not earn Elite Motivator, because that is one active day, not twelve. The point of the badge is consistent recognition, so the spread requirement is what actually carries the meaning.
2. Only weekdays count towards active days
Saturdays and Sundays never count as active days. A Flaree sent on Saturday still counts towards your total, but the day itself is ignored when Flaree counts how many separate days you were active.
Days are counted in UTC, not in your local timezone. If you send a Flaree late in the evening in a timezone ahead of UTC, it may be counted as the previous day.
π Elite Motivator
Monthly. The top tier of the two monthly badges.
Requirements:
Send at least 20 Flarees in total during the calendar month
Spread them over at least 12 different days
Only weekdays count (Monday to Friday)
12 active days is roughly half the working days in a typical month, so a holiday or a week off will not cost you the badge as long as you are sending regularly the rest of the time.
π€ Team Player
Monthly. The entry tier of the two monthly badges.
Requirements:
Send at least 15 Flarees in total during the calendar month
Spread them over at least 8 different days
Only weekdays count (Monday to Friday)
The two monthly badges are mutually exclusive. Flaree checks Elite Motivator first. If you qualify for it, you get Elite Motivator and Team Player is not awarded for that month. Team Player is what you get when you were active but did not reach the Elite Motivator bar. You will never hold both for the same month.
π Week Leader
Weekly. Awarded every Monday for the week that just ended.
Requirements:
Send at least 5 Flarees in total during the week
Spread them over at least 3 different days
Only weekdays count (Monday to Friday)
The week runs Monday to Sunday. Despite the name, this is not a ranking: it is not "the one person who led the week." Everyone who meets the threshold earns it, so a whole team can hold Week Leader for the same week. The badges also stack, so a new one is added every week you qualify.
β Flaree Master
Milestone based. The only badge awarded in real time.
Requirements:
One badge for your very first Flaree transfer
One more badge for every 5 Flarees sent
The count is all time within your company, so it never resets at the start of a month. It is also the only badge that does not wait for a cron: it lands the moment the transfer goes through.
How the count grows:
Flarees sent (all time) | Flaree Master badges |
|---|---|
1 | 1 (the first-transfer badge) |
5 | 2 |
10 | 3 |
25 | 6 |
50 | 11 |
If someone was sending Flarees before this badge existed, Flaree backfills the badges they are owed in one go the next time they send a transfer. Receiving several Flaree Master badges at once is expected behaviour, not a bug.
When badges are calculated
Job | Runs | What it does |
|---|---|---|
Weekly badges | Every Monday, 09:00 | Awards Week Leader for the previous week and notifies the people who earned it |
Monthly badges | First working day of the month, 09:00 | Awards Elite Motivator and Team Player for the previous month, plus a team recap |
Team recap | Every Wednesday, 09:00 | Posts the current month's top 3 and badge counts to the team channel |
Flaree Master | Real time | Awarded at the moment of the transfer, no schedule involved |
All times are read in your company's timezone, set in company settings. If the first day of the month falls on a weekend, the monthly job runs on the first working day after it instead.
How you find out you earned a badge
Slack direct message β if your company has the Slack integration and your Slack account uses the same email as your Flaree account. This is the default channel.
Email β the fallback when Slack is not connected, or when Flaree cannot find you in the Slack workspace.
You get one notification per badge on one channel, never both. Every notification links straight to your badges in the dashboard.
Separately from the personal notification, a team recap goes to the company's default Slack channel with the top 3 by points and how many people earned each badge. If there is no Slack channel configured, the recap is emailed to everyone in the company instead.
Where to see your badges
Leaderboard β the Badges column shows what each person holds. The info icon in that column header opens the same rules you are reading here.
User details sidebar β click a person on the leaderboard for their all-time badge counts.
On the leaderboard, only the highest monthly badge is shown, so someone with Elite Motivator will not also display Team Player.
Common questions
I sent plenty of Flarees but got no badge.
Almost always the active-days requirement. Check how many separate weekdays you sent on, not the total. Sending in bursts is the usual cause.
Why did I get Team Player instead of Elite Motivator?
You met the Team Player bar but not both Elite Motivator conditions. Most often the total was under 20, or you were active on fewer than 12 weekdays.
Do Flarees I receive count?
No. Badges only look at what you send. Received Flarees feed your points and leaderboard position.
Do weekend Flarees count?
They count towards your total, but the weekend day itself never counts as an active day.
My badge did not arrive on Monday morning.
Badges are assigned at 09:00 in the company timezone, so check your own timezone against it. If it is still missing hours later, raise a ticket.
I received several Flaree Master badges at once.
Expected. Flaree backfills milestones you already passed before the badge existed.
