Walkthrough
From signing up to sending your first Flaree
This guide walks through setting up a company in Flaree, getting your team in, creating recognition cards, and sending recognition from the web app or from Slack.
Setting up your company
Flaree is self-serve. You start on the web, and Slack is an optional step you can add later.
Register at flaree.app — enter your work email. You can also sign up with Google.
Confirm your email — follow the link you receive and set a password.
Set up your company — the onboarding wizard walks you through:
Company information — name, logo, description, website address, timezone, and the time of day badges are calculated. The logo is required to move on.
Plan — pick your subscription. You can enter a promo code here.
Slack integration — appears only if the Flaree Slack app is already installed in your workspace. If not, skip it and connect Slack later from Settings.
Summary — a checklist of what to do next.
Create your first recognition cards — Flaree asks for a minimum set before the app is usable. Pick from the ready-made library or make your own.
Fill in the company description and website URL. Beyond looking right on your profile, the AI card generator needs both. Without them it will not run.
Getting your team in
There are three ways to onboard people, and you can mix them.
Method | Where | Best for |
|---|---|---|
Invite one by one | Settings → Company → Members | Adding a new hire, or anyone joining later |
Invite everyone from Slack | Onboarding Slack step, or Settings → Integration | Getting the whole workspace in at once |
Admins at company creation | The company setup form | Co-admins you want on board from day one |
What the invited person does: they get an email, click the link, and set a password. That is the whole flow. If they already have a Flaree account with that email, they log in instead and the company is added to their account.
Inviting people consumes seats. If you do not have enough, the invite is rejected with a seats error, including on the bulk Slack invite. Raise the seat count first.
Roles and who can send recognition
Role | Can send? | What it adds |
|---|---|---|
Employee | Yes | Send and receive recognition. The default for invited people. |
Editor | Yes | Also creates and edits recognition cards, including Special cards. |
Admin | Yes | Also manages people, billing, company settings, and the Slack integration. |
Company owner | Yes | Everything above, plus full control of permissions. One per company. |
Everyone you invite can send recognition from day one. If you need someone to be receive-only, an admin can revoke their giving rights afterwards in the member's access settings.
Creating recognition cards
A card is the template a Flaree is sent from. Go to Flarees → Creator → New card.
What you fill in:
Title — at least 3 characters
Description — between 10 and 4000 characters
Quantity — how many of this card exist, from 1 to 10,000
Image — required. Upload your own or use one of the provided graphics
Icon — optional overlay, with a choice of position
There is no points value on the card itself. Points are picked by the sender at the moment of the transfer.
Three ways to get a card:
Ready-made library — themed cards around support, involvement, communication, discussion, and self improvement. Fastest way to start.
Build your own — write the title and description around your own values, add your own graphic.
Generate with AI — the generator reads your company website and drafts a title and description for you. Needs a company description and website URL to be set.
Unlimited custom cards are available on every plan. The AI card generator and Special Flaree Cards are part of the Advance plan.
Sending a Flaree from the web app
The send button is the round Flaree button pinned to the bottom right of every dashboard screen. You do not need to navigate anywhere to send recognition.
The form has four fields:
Card — which recognition card you are sending
Recipients — one to ten people in a single send
Points — 100, 70, 50, or 20
Comment — optional, up to 250 characters. Worth writing: it is what makes recognition land
When sending to several people at once, a daily limit may already have been reached for some of them. Flaree sends to everyone else and tells you who was skipped.
Sending a Flaree from Slack
Flaree registers one slash command, /flaree:
Command | What it does |
|---|---|
| Opens the transfer form to recognize a teammate |
| Lists the Flarees you have received |
| Shows the company leaderboard |
| Lists every available command |
The same four actions are available as buttons on the Flaree app's Home tab in Slack, if you prefer clicking to typing.
"Your Slack account is not connected to Flaree" means your Slack identity is not yet linked. Fix it in the web app: Settings → Integration → Slack, then connect your account. The commands work immediately afterwards.
Points, the leaderboard, and badges
Sending a Flaree gives the recipient points. Points drive the leaderboard at Dashboard → Leaderboard, which has four views:
Sprint champions — a rolling window, 14 days by default and adjustable
Monthly masters — by calendar month
Quarterly kings — by quarter
Badge lovers — ranked by badges rather than points
Any view can be filtered by department. Sprint, quarterly, and department rankings are Advance plan features.
Badges work the other way round from points: they reward the people who send consistently, not those who receive the most. Full rules on the Badges page.
Troubleshooting
I cannot see the send button.
Either your giving rights were revoked, or you are signed in on a platform admin account. Ask an admin to check your access in Settings → Company → Members.
An invite was rejected.
Usually not enough seats. Check your seat count in the billing settings and raise it before retrying.
The AI generator will not open.
Your company is missing a description or a website URL. Add both in Settings → General, then retry.
Slack commands do nothing.
Connect your Slack account under Settings → Integration → Slack. Note the command is /flaree, not the old /nftreality.
Someone did not receive their invite email.
Check spam first, then confirm the email address on the member record, then resend.
