Flaree cards

Flaree cards

A card is the template a Flaree is sent from. This page covers creating cards by hand or with AI, how many times a card can be sent, grouping cards into series, and how Special Flarees are unlocked.

What a card is

Every Flaree is sent from a card. The card carries the artwork, the title and the description, so it is where your company values become something people can actually send.

Cards live in Dashboard → Kudos. The tabs there separate your standard cards, series, Special Flarees, and anything you have archived.

Creating a card

Go to Dashboard → Kudos and open the card creator. The form has five fields:

Field

Rules

Image

Required. JPG, JPEG, PNG or GIF, up to 10 MB. Upload your own, build one in the Art Builder, or search GIPHY.

Title

Required. Between 3 and 100 characters.

Description

Required. Between 10 and 4000 characters.

Quantity

Required. Between 1 and 10,000. See below, this one matters more than it looks.

Additional icon

Optional. Appears once you have a main image. Recommended size 88x88px, positioned upper left, upper centre or bottom right.

The quantity field starts at 0, which is not a valid value. You have to type a number before the form will save.

The Art Builder

If you do not have artwork ready, the Art Builder ships nine built-in graphics you can recolour: involvement, communication, discussion-like, honesty, supportive, openness to changes, self-improvement, maturity and responsibility.

These are picker graphics, not pre-made cards. You still write your own title and description around them.

Quantity is a hard limit on sends

Quantity is how many times the card can ever be sent. Set it to 50 and the card can be sent 50 times in total, across the whole company, forever. Each Flaree sent uses one unit permanently. This is not a per-person or per-month allowance.

When a card runs out of units it disappears from the send picker. People will tell you the card "vanished", and this is almost always why.

Trying to send the last one when none are left gives you: "All Kudos of its type has been given. Please select other one or create something new!"

Raising the quantity later

You can edit a card and raise its quantity at any time. The new units are created immediately and the card reappears in the picker.

You can also lower it, but only down to the number already sent. Below that you get "Cannot decrease quantity below the number of used collectibles". Sent Flarees are never reclaimed.

Group sends need every unit up front

A group send is all or nothing on units. Picking five people when only three units remain sends nothing at all, rather than serving the first three. Reduce the group or raise the quantity.

This is different from the daily points limit, which skips only the people who are over it and lets the rest through.

Generating a card with AI

The card creator can draft a card for you from what your company has already told Flaree.

Two things are required first: your company description and your company website URL, both under Settings → Company. Without both, the generator will not run and you get a dialog reading "To generate Flaree cards with AI, your company needs both a description and website URL." with a shortcut to settings.

If you have uploaded a culture book, its text is used as extra context, and so is your company size. The generator also reads your recent cards so it does not repeat one you already have.

What you get back is a draft title and description that fill the create form, plus a matching graphic picked from the built-in set. Nothing is saved until you press Add card, so you can edit or discard it freely.

Press the button again for a different suggestion. There is no cap on how many times you can generate.

Series

A series is a name you group cards under, nothing more. Create one from the Series tab, then assign cards to it.

Two things worth knowing:

  • A card belongs to one series at a time. Assigning it to another moves it.

  • Series are admin-side organisation only. The send picker does not group by series, and recipients never see them. Use them to keep a large card library manageable, not to change how anything behaves.

Special Flarees

A Special Flaree cannot be sent. It is unlocked by collecting a set of standard cards.

How to set one up

Create the special card, then attach the cards that will be required to unlock it. There are three slots, and at least one must be filled. Attaching a fourth is refused.

How someone unlocks it

Step

What happens

Collecting

They need at least one of every required card. Receiving the same required card three times does not count as three.

Seeing progress

The special card shows the required cards, with the ones still missing greyed out and a padlock on the card itself.

Claiming

Once the set is complete the padlock opens and a claim button appears. The employee has to press it. Nothing is awarded automatically.

After claiming

The card lands in their collection, and if Slack is connected the unlock is announced there.

A Special Flaree freezes once anyone unlocks it. After the first person claims it you can no longer change its required cards or edit the card itself. Get the set right before you announce it.

Archiving and deleting

Archive is the safe option and the one to reach for. An archived card drops out of the send picker but everything already sent stays exactly as it was, in every recipient's collection. You can un-archive it later.

Deleting removes the card outright. Archive instead unless you are removing a card created by mistake that was never sent.

Where recipients see their cards

Each Flaree someone receives is a numbered unit of a card, shown as its position out of the total. Their collection is under the Kudos view, with separate tabs for standard cards, series and Special Flarees.

Who can manage cards

Creating, editing, archiving and deleting cards requires the Editor role or higher. Editors, Administrators and the Company Owner can all do it.

Employees and Givers can send and receive Flarees but cannot change the card library. See Roles and permissions.

Common questions

A card disappeared from the send list.
It has run out of units, or it has been archived. Edit the card and raise its quantity, or un-archive it.

My group send did nothing at all.
Not enough units of that card for everyone selected. A group send needs one unit per person or it sends nothing. Pick fewer people, raise the quantity, or use another card.

The AI generator will not start.
Your company is missing a description or a website URL. Add both under Settings → Company and try again.

Can I put a card in two series?
No. A card belongs to one series at a time, and assigning it elsewhere moves it.

Someone collected the required cards but did not get the Special Flaree.
Claiming is manual. They need to open the special card and press the claim button. Also check they have one of every required card, not several copies of one.

Why can I not edit our Special Flaree any more?
Someone has already unlocked it. Special Flarees lock down after the first claim so the goalposts cannot move for people mid-way through.

What happens to sent Flarees if I archive the card?
Nothing. They stay in every recipient's collection permanently. Archiving only removes the card from the picker.
