Insights

Insights

The engagement dashboard: how much recognition is happening, how many people take part, and who is being reached. This page explains exactly what each number counts, so you can quote them to leadership without being caught out.

Who can see it

Insights is available to Administrators and the Owner. Everyone else does not see the menu item at all.

You will find it in the main navigation as Insights.

Choosing the period

Three buttons at the top: 30 days, 90 days and 12 months. Thirty days is the default.

There is no custom date range. The period always ends today, and the choice resets to 30 days when you reload the page.

The chart grouping follows the period: daily for 30 days, weekly for 90 days, monthly for 12 months.

The four numbers

Each tile compares against the previous period of the same length, so 30 days is measured against the 30 days before it. When there is nothing to compare against, no change is shown rather than a misleading jump from zero.

Tile

What it counts

Flaree sent

Flarees sent by people in the period. Birthday and anniversary Flarees are not counted here.

Participation

The share of people allowed to send who sent at least one. The hint underneath spells out the actual numbers.

Reach

The share of everyone in the company who received recognition from a colleague.

Points awarded

All points awarded in the period, including automatic ones from birthdays and anniversaries.

Participation and Reach use different denominators, on purpose. Participation is measured against people who can send, because someone without giving rights cannot fail to participate. Reach is measured against everyone, because anyone can be recognised. The two percentages are not comparable with each other.

Points awarded is the odd one out. The first three tiles count only what people did. Points awarded includes automatic celebration Flarees too, so it can rise in a month when the other three are flat. If you are reporting on human recognition, quote the first three.

The charts

Chart

What it shows

Recognition over time

Two stacked bars per period: recognition from people, and automatic recognition.

Participation over time

The percentage of people who can send who actually sent, plotted across the period.

Most used cards

Which cards are being sent. The top five, with everything else folded into Other.

Recognition by department

Which departments receive the most. Only appears once you have departments set up.

Top givers

The five people who sent the most.

Top receivers

The five people who received the most.

Reading the department chart

It counts recognition received, grouped by the recipient's department. It answers which teams are being appreciated, not which teams are generous.

Anyone without a department is grouped under No department. If that bar is large, assign departments under Settings → Company → Departments.

Insights cannot be filtered to a single department. Use the leaderboard for that.

What counts as automatic

The grey series covers recognition nobody clicked send on: birthday and work anniversary Flarees, and anything sent through the API by another system.

Recognition prompted by the Slack roulette command counts as from people. Flaree suggested the recipient, but a person still chose to send it.

When the page looks empty

What you see

Why

"There is nobody to recognise yet"

You are the only person in the company. Invite your team and the dashboard appears.

"It was quiet this period"

No Flaree was sent by a person in the selected period. Try a longer period.

"No data for this period."

That particular chart has nothing to plot.

"Nobody can send Flaree yet."

Nobody has giving rights. See Roles and permissions.

The whole panel is replaced in the first two cases rather than showing a grid of zeros.

Exporting

Insights cannot currently be exported to a file. You can export your member list as a spreadsheet from Settings → Company, and the weekly summary email sent to owners is built from the same figures, so it works well as a recurring record.

Where else to find numbers

  • Transfer logs under Settings → Company: the full audit trail of who sent what to whom, with comments and points.

  • Leaderboards: rankings by points, filterable by period and department. See Leaderboards.

  • Survey results: answers and response rates, covered in Surveys.

Common questions

Why does Points awarded go up when Flaree sent is flat?
Points awarded includes automatic birthday and anniversary Flarees. The other tiles count only what people sent.

Our participation is low but people are clearly sending.
Participation counts the share of people allowed to send who did. If most of your team has giving rights switched off, a handful of active senders still reads as a low percentage. Check who has the Giver permission.

It says the period was quiet, but birthday Flarees went out.
That message looks at human recognition only. Automatic celebration Flarees do not count towards it.

Can I see one department only?
Not on Insights. The leaderboard can be filtered by department.

Why is there a large "No department" bar?
Those people have no department assigned. Set them under Settings → Company → Departments.

Can I download this as a spreadsheet?
Not yet. The weekly owner summary email covers the same ground on a schedule.

Someone in the top lists has left the company.
Historical recognition is kept, so past periods still reflect what happened at the time.
